A special workshop centering on the research needs for Inherently Safer Technology (IST) was held Friday May 9 in Houston. The workshop was sponsored by the Mary Kay OConnor Process Safety Center at Texas A&M University. The objective of the workshop was to explore “state-of-the-art knowledge regarding inherently safer technology with an eye towards delineating appropriate research options that should be pursued to fill some of the existing knowledge gaps.”
Dave Moore, President and CEO of AcuTech Consulting Group, presented the latest CCPS guidelines for IST at the workshop. He also co-led a workshop with Randy Sawyer of Contra Costa County Health Services on research needs for the chemical infrastructure. Other workshops focused on research needs for new and existing plants. |
